How are Lapmaps a generational keepsake?
Lapmaps are created to become cherished keepsakes so your unique odyssey can last for generations! Here's why:
- Fade-Resistant Colors: We use Epson's museum-grade UltraChrome inks, renowned for their exceptional lightfastness. These inks resist fading for over 100 years under proper display conditions, ensuring your Lapmap's vibrant colors stay beautiful for generations to come.
- Strong and Tear-Resistant: Our canvas is made from a high-quality poly-cotton blend, chosen for its durability and resistance to tearing. This ensures your Lapmap can withstand the test of time, even with everyday handling.
Here are some additional tips to maximize the lifespan of your Lapmap:
- Display it wisely: Avoid hanging your Lapmap in direct sunlight, as even UV-resistant inks can fade slightly over extended periods. Opt for well-lit areas with indirect sunlight.
- Keep it dry: High moisture environments like bathrooms or kitchens can damage your Lapmap.
- Gentle cleaning: For occasional dust, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or cleaners.
By following these simple tips, you can ensure your Lapmap remains a treasured family heirloom for years to come.
Can I send my Rolled Lapmap back for framing?
Currently, Lapmap doesn't offer a return service for stretching and framing of your filled out Lapmap. We're actively exploring ways to make this a convenient and affordable option in the future.
In the meantime, here are some resources that might be helpful:
- Local framing shops: Many local framing shops offer stretching and framing services. They can provide expert advice and ensure a perfect fit for your Lapmap. (Highly recommended)
DIY framing tutorials: If you're feeling adventurous there are numerous online tutorials that guide you through the stretching and framing process at home.
What if I make a mistake with the pen on the map?
Fortunately you'll just have to go there (if it's a public road). The pen provided has archival qualities meaning the ink is permanent so you don't have to worry about your travels fading over time.
How do I clean my Lapmap?
Here's how to approach cleaning archival prints:
Prevention is key:
- Store them properly: Keep your archival prints in a safe, cool and dry place. We know from experience this is hard to execute while on the road, so just do you best.
- Handle them with care: Always wash your hands before handling archival prints to minimise fingerprints, oils and other contaminants.
Cleaning:
- Dry dabbing: We recommend gently dabbing a clean dry cotton clothe in the affected area to transfer the contaminants from the print to the clothe.
